School Food Plan

In 2012, SFM was proud to be invited to be part of the Expert Panel charged by the DfE to come up with the School Food Plan.

Led by Henry Dimbleby and John Vincent, the School Food Plan was published in July 2013 with the support of then Secretary for Education, Michael Gove.

It contains a series of actions, each of which is the responsibility of a named person or organisation, to transform what children eat at school and how they learn about food. Watch the film to find out more.

On 1 April 2016, the School Food Plan office officially closed and the baton was passed to the School Food Plan Alliance. The Alliance is made up of members of the original Expert Panel and representatives of organisations from the wider world of school food.
